Krabi bars and nightlife

Ao Nang and Phi Phi Island offer the liveliest nightlife in the Krabi region, although don’t expect  to find the sophisticated nightclubs  like in Bangkok or even the raucous parties of Koh Phangan.  People tend to come to Krabi to relax and enjoy the sunsets. The relaxed vibe is catching, especially when surrounded by happy travellers and locals content with enjoying the moment.

The northern end of Ao Nang is home to a number of laid back bars such as the Reggae Bar and the Art Bar and of course the prerequisite O'Malley's Irish Pub. Near the police station you’ll find another Irish pub, The Irish Rover Bar and Grill, offering live sports and a pool table. IN Krabi you can just wander the stall lined streets or the night markets on the Chao Fan pier and Thanon Sukhon opposite the city hotel, stopping for a drink here and there to enjoy the atmosphere of this vibrant scene.

If you want to indulge in Thai-style nightlife, Krabi Town boasts a nu,ber of karaoke bars around Soi 2 and Sois 7 and 1. Hostesses can be invited to join your table for a drink and maybe a song. In Ao Nang, try Center Point, a small plaza of bar beers that sits behind the main beachfront strip.

On Railay, the party scene is a bit more developed but still low key. Head to the much loved Carlito’s wave and the Apacha Bar for nightly parties. For  relaxed beachfront bars try Rapala and Last Bar Diamond 2 bungalows on east Railay, and the chilled Sunset Bar on the west end. On Klong Nin Beach fire shows, live music and DJ’s make Otto’s the most popular venue.  The techno parties for Full moon, Half Moon and Black Moon are usually on East Railay, although not on the same scale as Koh Phangan’s infamous event.
